Sir Alex ChisholmUK Chair, EDF

Alex Chisholm is UK Chair of EDF and a Board member of BT Group plc.

Previously he served as Chief Operating Officer of the Civil Service and Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet Office (2020-24), Permanent Secretary at the Department of Business Energy & Industrial Strategy (2016-20), Chief Executive of the Competition & Markets Authority (2013-16), and Commissioner for Communications Regulation in Ireland (2006-13).

Prior to that he held executive positions in Pearson plc, Financial Times Group, eCountries Inc and ecceleration Ltd. He holds an Oxford MA and an INSEAD MBA. He is a trustee of Breadline Africa. He was knighted for public service in 2023.
