About our speakers
Mathew Rea is co-Head of the Global International Arbitration Team and a partner in the Commercial Litigation Client Service Group. He has over 20 years' experience of handling commercial and international business disputes of all types, in a variety of venues, and under a variety of different laws and procedures. He has extensive trial experience in the English High Court as well as in arbitrations administered by the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Court of Arbitration, amongst others. In addition to significant litigation and arbitration experience, Mr. Rea also has counselled clients on risk management and alternative forms of dispute resolution.
Rémy Blain advises clients in the areas of acquisitions and sales of companies/assets, and private equity projects for equity funds and management teams. He also advises clients on a wide range of trade matters, including distribution and franchising, joint ventures, technology transactions, bidding, teaming and supply agreements.
Key industry experience includes manufacturing, energy and construction, software, luxury, retail and food sectors.
Mr. Blain became a lawyer in private practice in 2005. He has since focused on providing pragmatic advice to European, American and Asian companies in connection with their investments in France and Europe, often acting as an outside general counsel.
Mr. Blain is recognized by Chambers & Partners and French magazine Décideurs in the areas of mid-cap mergers and acquisitions, private equity and distribution.
Catherine is Deputy Head of the LLM Course in International Commercial Law at Westminster Law School. She is a Senior lecturer in Law and currently teaches on a number of LLB and LLM courses including Law of International Trade, Law of International Sales, Corporate Social Responsibility Issues in Business and Law, Multinational Corporate Entities and Comparative Law.
She was a Fulbright and French Foreign Ministry Scholar at Harvard Law School where sh gained a Masters Degree majoring in Corporate Law. Before this she graduated in law with honours from the University of Paris II (Pantheon-Assas). She has also studied at the European University Institute in Florence. She is admitted to the New York and Paris bars.

Jeremy Aron is Group Legal Director for the Packaging division of DS Smith Plc, a FTSE 250 packaging business and the leading supplier of corrugated packaging solutions and services in Europe. DS Smith's customers include a range of international FMCG businesses across a variety of sectors and Jeremy has extensive experience of negotiating commercial agreements across a number of jurisdictions. In addition, Jeremy has broad experience of both domestic and cross-border M&A and joint ventures. DS Smith has been highly acquisitive in the last 5 years having completed a reverse takeover of SCA's Corrugated Packaging business together with a large number of other acquisitions in Continental Europe.
